How to Create a CUSTOM Gmail Signature with Clickable Links with Canva!

Phase 1: Designing Your Signature Graphics in Canva

  1. Begin by creating a custom-sized design in Canva (800x400 pixels). Input all your essential contact details: name, phone number, email, website, and office address if applicable.

  2. Create a second custom-sized design in Canva (300x300 pixels). This is where we will design your custom profile image and social media icons.

Be sure to save your designs as a PNG with a transparent background. Fair warning, this is a Canva Pro feature but if you would like to try Canva Pro for 30 Days FREE, consider using my affiliate link HERE.

Phase 2: Formatting in Google Docs & Adding Hyperlinks

  1. Open a blank Google Document and insert a simple table (2x1). This is where you will format the style and placement of your email signature. Ideally you would want to have your profile image on the left column and your contact information on the right column.

  2. Hyperlink each social icon to its respective social media page or website. Ensure proper alignment and spacing.

  3. Right click on the chart you created in the Google Doc, scroll down to table properties, find β€œcolour tab” and make the border lines white or ideally the line weight to 0 pt.

  4. Click and drag over the chart with your mouse, right click and COPY the chart for now.

Phase 3: Implementing in Gmail Settings

  1. Go to Gmail settings, in the general tab, scroll down till you see the signature settings and click β€œCreate New.”

  2. Copy and paste the table from your Google Doc into the signature box.

  3. Assign signature to outgoing emails and replies, scroll all the way down to the bottom and hit β€œsave changes.”

[Now, at this point, if and IF Google tells you that your β€œSignature is too long” it’s not and so, you will have to format and implement your Gmail signature a different way. Check out my tutorial HERE to learn how I figured out a work around to by-pass my signature being too long.]

  4. Finally, send out a test email to confirm the functionality of your signature. Open the email and ensure all links are clickable. Happy Emailing!
