In this article, I'll walk you through what the onboarding process looks like and what you can expect along the way.
Before You Apply: Choose Your eXp Sponsor
Before starting the eXp Join application, you'll need to determine who will be your primary eXp Sponsor.
This is arguably one of the most important decisions you'll make when joining eXp Realty because your sponsor determines the organization and ecosystem you'll be connected to inside the company.
While every agent receives access to eXp Realty's core tools, technology, and resources, many sponsors and organizations provide additional value through mentorship, training, systems, accountability, community, and exclusive resources designed to help agents grow their businesses.
That's why I always encourage joining agents to think beyond the application itself.
You're not simply choosing a sponsor.
You're choosing a business partner who serves as your access point into an ecosystem designed to help you grow—surrounded by the people, systems, and community you'll learn from, collaborate with, and build alongside for years to come.
And here's something many agents don't realize:
Your primary eXp Sponsor cannot be changed once you're active with the company.
So take your time.
Ask questions.
Do your due diligence.
And choose intentionally.

Step 1: Complete Your Application
Once you've selected your sponsor, you'll create your eXp account and submit your application.
The application collects information related to:
personal information
sponsor information
license information
real estate experience
financial information
required documents

Step 2: Application Review
After submission, eXp's onboarding team reviews your application to ensure everything is accurate and complete.
If anything is missing, eXp onboarding will contact you directly.
Step 3: Transfer Your License
Once approved, your State or Provincial Broker Team will provide instructions for transferring your license to eXp Realty.
The exact process varies by location.
Step 4: Become Active
After your license transfer is complete, you'll officially become active with eXp Realty.
